On January 22, Laureen Vanille Marsault, MD, PhD, successfully defended her doctoral thesis at the Orthopaedic Clinic in Odense, Denmark, following a close research collaboration between orthopaedic research group at SDU Odense and Lund University.
Her thesis, “Enhanced bone regeneration and implant fixation by targeted delivery of systemic or local Zoledronic acid to hydroxyapatite – in normal and osteoporotic sheep models,” focused on biomodulation of artificial bone replacement materials, comparing traditional bone grafts with injectable bone substitutes that bind and locally release bone-stimulating drugs. The findings show how combining biological and material-based strategies can improve bone regeneration.
Congratulations to Laureen Marsault, her supervisor Professor Ming Ding, and co-supervisor Professor Magnus Tägil on a successful defence.
